How to compile your very own Performing Code–Part 8

Practicing using your Performing Code
Practicing anything brings about competence as you probably already know. The self discipline it takes often requires pushing through unfamiliarities as with anything new to you that you take on learning. Persistence until you have it down cold is always, and has always been, the standard of a true professional.

Exercise for Practicing your Code
Emphasis in this exercise is on persisting until you have each point of your code “down cold” and don’t have any urge left to have to think about using it. You just use each point directly in your performing.

a) Now take the first item of your Performing Code and practice using it in the performance of a song that you or another person composed. Do this until you know you can comfortably use it without thinking about it.
Practicing it in front of a mirror or videoing yourself and watching it can be very helpful as it tends to give you more of an audiences’ viewpoint of how you perform.
♦ Now add, remove, or refine anything about that item or any other item in your Performing Code.

b) Now take the next item in your Performing Code and apply point a) above to it.
Now add, remove, or refine anything about that item or any other item in your Performing Code.

c) Repeat point a) above to include each item on your Performing Code.
Now add, remove, or refine anything about that item or any other item in your Performing Code.

d) Now review each item of your Performing Code newly as though you never read it before. As you are reading over each item on your code if you notice your attention sticks on any part of it, re-apply point a) above until you find yourself using it with certainty and no need to “think” about it anymore.
Now add, remove, or refine anything about that item or any other item in your Performing Code.

Result expected
Using your Performing Code is now part of your natural performing talent and something you use in your performing without thinking, as it has become part of you and second nature.
