David Lingabee Songs & Songwriting

Song#: 17

Album
Name of Song: Why calm the soul?

Long ago forgotten sins against bodies,
Still quite charged but now only feel the urge,
We haven’t regained that level of innate power,
Where we can see these things, or know them, just feel the surge.

Substitutions are a common occurrence,
People trying to feel the rush,
And when we think we feel that climax,
An urge remains to again repeat as such.

The urge so strong it carries us along behind it,
The sudden fusing of body mind and soul,
We now all carry with us this “now I’m supposed to do this”,
Not the same as in our past, when we were more bold.

The strength of love that resides in all of us,
Was used by some to trap us all,
How did they do it?, they used electronics,
Now we seem to all dance to a different call.

Chorus
The urge to help is easy to alter,
Make it fail and it turns to hate,
We’re all supposed to mistrust each other,
Makes innocent help a fiendish trait.
______

Urges within fester deep inside of us,
They use our power to feed their souls,
Sins of long ago stick us to our bodies,
Hard to deal with these hidden controls.

Ways to calm the spirit,
So valuable to the soul,
Anything to stop the constant urge
To fall into these holes.

Sins thought unbelievable,
And so a veil that sadly hides,
To dare to spread what they contain,
Leaves one feeling alone inside.

There are sins we’ve done as spirits,
Sometimes movies get too close,
Things that can’t be understood,
And most would say, “How gross!”

Chorus
The urge to help is easy to alter,
Make it fail and it turns to hate,
We’re all supposed to mistrust each other,
Makes innocent help a fiendish trait.
______

Chorus

Makes innocent help a fiendish trait.
