David Lingabee Songs & Songwriting

Song#: 3

Album
Name of Song: What do you do without a body?

You’re suddenly without a body,
You feel a little bare,
It’s lying there without you,
And it doesn’t seem to care.

You think it really needed you,
And it probably thought the same,
You used it for a place to stay,
While making another game.

The reality of what your body was,
This symbol they called you,
You never got used to showing yourself,
And now you’re forced to have to.

Chorus
It’s something we have done before,
New bodies everywhere,
Should I go and get another one now,
Or help myself with prayer.
______

The thoughts of where and what to do,
Go flashing through your mind,
Should you go and get another one,
Or go on being blind.

There are many tales of where you go,
And what occurs with you,
But amnesia’s such a widespread scene,
It’s hard to know the truth.

I’ve been here many times before,
We’re told we shouldn’t tell,
What do I do, where can I go,
Ah! – my favorite place I dwelled.

Don’t look for some agreement,
Most can’t or won’t look in,
Leave fairy tales and unproven hopes,
To calm them in their spin.

Chorus
It’s something we have done before,
New bodies everywhere,
Should I go and get another one now,
Or help myself with prayer.

______

You can sing you can play,
Like a child in its day,
I have seen this really happen,
That person wanted to just start tappin’.

It’s different than a body,
A spirit is just not flesh,
The truth when told is always shunned,
This trap is so enmeshed.

Chorus
It’s something we have done before,
New bodies everywhere,
Should I go and get another one now,
Or help myself with prayer.

______

The relief is very startling,
When not inside some flesh,
A thrill to look without your eyes,
And see beyond the mesh.

Bodies come and bodies go,
Don’t stand the test of time,
But you, you’re something else my friend,
You’re from a very long line.

Chorus
It’s something we have done before,
New bodies everywhere,
Should I go and get another one now,
Or help myself with prayer.

First off I would like to say fantastic blog! I had
a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you do not mind.
I was curious to find out how you center yourself and
clear your head prior to writing. I’ve had a tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out there.
I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any
    ideas or hints? Many thanks!
